What if you could spend about 30 minutes doing something now that would help you look great by the time swimsuit season arrives? And what if that “something” involved no surgery, no incisions, no scars, and no downtime? Pretty much sounds like a no-brainer, right? Well, at Nu Image Aesthetics & Wellness Institute, we can help you do just that with a body sculpting session using the state-of-the-art SculpSure® system.
SculpSure gets rid of fat permanently, just like liposuction surgery. But it does it noninvasively so you can still slim down, but without all the risks, discomfort, and high cost that go hand-in-hand with liposuction. SculpSure is FDA approved for treatment of stubborn areas of fat in your upper and lower belly, your flanks, and even under your chin, and a treatment session typically takes a half hour to complete, right here in our office. Here’s how it works.
Harnessing the power of lasers
Lasers are used a lot in medical treatments today, and the reasons are pretty simple: They can provide great results while eliminating many of the risks associated with traditional surgical procedures. When it comes to getting rid of excess fat, laser energy can be used to target fat cells under your skin without using any incisions. That’s how SculpSure works to get rid of stubborn fat that just won’t budge, no matter how much you diet or exercise.
The technique of melting fat with lasers is called laser lipolysis. The SculpSure system uses specific frequencies of laser energy that are highly “attractive” to fat cells. That means when the laser energy reaches the deeper layers of your skin, the fat cells absorb the energy while the surrounding cells and tissue remain unaffected. As a result, SculpSure treatment is very precise in “zapping” fat without injuring other tissues. Compare that to liposuction, which uses a far more invasive and aggressive approach that can wind up causing bleeding and bruising in the entire treatment zone.
SculpSure treatment: What to expect
One of the reasons why SculpSure can offer such consistent results is its applicator design. The applicator is secured to the treatment zone using a special belt to ensure very precise delivery of the laser energy. A built-in cooling feature keeps your skin cool and comfortable throughout your treatment so you can recline and relax.
Once the applicator is in place, the laser goes to work delivering heat energy to the fat cells, dissolving the cell walls and essentially melting the fat away. During treatment, you’ll feel successive “waves” of warmth and coolness, similar to a hot stone massage. The liquefied fat is removed from your body gradually by your body’s lymph system, leaving you with sleeker, slimmer contours.
After your treatment, you’ll be able to go right back to your normal routine. There’s no downtime, so it’s easy to fit your treatment into your schedule. You might have some mild tenderness or stiffness in the treatment area, but those effects will go away soon after your treatment as your body begins flushing out the fatty debris. Because SculpSure relies on your body to metabolize the fatty debris left after your treatment, it takes a few weeks before your initial results will be visible. By about three months, your body should have finished removing most of the fatty debris, and your new contours will be ready for the big swimsuit reveal.
Like liposuction, SculpSure gets rid of targeted fat cells for good. Of course, other areas of your body can still gain weight, so to maintain your results, it’s important to eat healthily and get regular exercise. (Bonus: Those activities are good for your overall health too.)
